This poem is a bout-rimes sonnet that I worked on in my creative writing class with Dr. Simone Muench. A bout-rimes sonnet is a poem where the end rhymes have been selected by a collective group. This piece was presented at the 2014 Celebration of Scholarship.

Translated: “Love”
In playing cool you left me cold, like meat –
Frozen. After all the white nights you chased,
You fit into me like a gap in teeth.
One I’d kill to have braced and soon – erased.
Maybe it is me, who draws in the black…
The darkness in you exposed in white hours
I, a body in your lake; you – the brick.
But still my lips puckered for you like sour
Fruit. Our bodies intertwined and still pressed
Against the razor’s edge – that nights midair.
But after, met only ravens when dressed
