Dear Visitor,
Welcome to my undergraduate studies profile of Lewis University. This profile serves to represent my experience as an undergraduate at Lewis. From studying Chinese to learning about effective pedagogy, I have to admit that it truly has been quite an experience. I will never forget my first day of Chinese class when my classmates and I got to choose our Chinese identities--I choose 卜秀明 (my name meaning elegant and bright)--or the time in my Classroom Management class when I got to teach a mini-lesson in Spanish, or the moment in my Migration and Society course when I realized that I might want to start studying for a degree in immigration law... All of these moments illustrate my experience as a student. Moreover, within these moments, my experience as a writer also emerges, illimunating the course of my progress. My progess in learning: I've developed a discipline in not only practicing the various academic approaches to writing, but I've also developed a routine for my own personal writing. My progress in understanding: Through writing, I've researched and analyzed so many subjects that I now have quite a critical perspective of the world. My progess in communicating: I've had the opportunity to strengthen my learning and understanding in writing, and I've ultimately strengthened my skill of communicating because of it as I now have the skills necessary to convey my message--no matter the tongue. Overall, I've come to realize that it's not about the language that is used but about the way in which that language is conveyed.
